Michael obtained his B.S. degree in Resource Management from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1981. His academic journey was complemented by practical experience, including roles as a carpenter and involvement with the U.S. Forest Service, where he worked to retrace U.S. government land boundaries in the Big Sur region. From 1981 to 1987 he worked as a civil engineering technician for Lawrence, Fisk and McFarland as well as a survey party chief for Simpson Land Surveys in Santa Barbara. In 1987, he acquired his license as a land surveyor and moved to San Luis Obispo, working as chief of surveys for Engineering Development Associates and RRM Design Group. In 2005, he founded MBS Land Surveys serving both private and public clients in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties. He spends his free time playing tennis, hiking, and road biking.

Jeremiah is a second-generation surveyor. He began his survey career in 1999, focusing on construction surveying projects on highways across the southeastern United States. From 2001 to 2008 he worked as a party chief, project manager, and civil engineering designer in the San Francisco Bay Area. In subsequent years, he held roles as a party chief and civil engineering designer in Washington state before returning to the Bay Area in 2012. He obtained his license as a land surveyor in 2012. Jeremiah has been the Director of Construction Services at MBS Land Surveys since 2018. He spends his free time with his wife and three children, attending renaissance festivals around the state.

Linda began surveying in 1985 as a survey technician in the San Luis Obispo County area. Between 1986 and 2011 she focused her career on map preparation for boundary surveys and subdivisions. Since 2011, Linda has been an integral part of MBS Land Surveys managing subdivision projects. She spends her free time creating stained glass artwork.

Aaron began his surveying career in Texas, studying civil engineering at Tarrant County College. From 2004 to 2019, he honed his skills with multiple land surveying firms across the Dallas-Fort Worth area, specializing in boundary, ALTA, topographic, and GPS control surveys. Aaron relocated to California in 2019 and joined MBS Land Surveys. He obtained his license as a land surveyor in 2023. His focus remains on GPS control surveys and retracement surveys of remote public lands. He spends his free time playing bass guitar with his band.

Eric holds a bachelor’s degree from Humboldt State University. From 2015 to 2018 he worked as a party chief in the Sonoma and Mendocino Counties, specializing in boundary, topographic and ALTA surveys. Eric moved to the San Luis Obispo area in 2019 continuing his career as a party chief before joining MBS Land Surveys in 2021. Eric obtained his license as a land surveyor in 2023. He spends his free time surfing the central coast.

Josiah obtained his bachelor’s degree from National University in 2013. From 2007 to 2011 he worked as a party chief and survey technician in the central valley area before moving to the central coast where he continued with his career as a party chief. Josiah joined the MBS Land Surveys team in 2021 with a focus on boundary surveys, topographic surveys and construction calculations. He spends his free time with his wife and two children.

Jason obtained his AA degree from Hancock Jr. College and studied construction management at Chico State University. He has worked in the central coast area from 1997 to 2006 performing boundary, topographic, ALTA and construction surveys including work on various civil engineering projects. Jason has worked with MBS Land Surveys since 2006. He spends his free time making custom knives and spends weekends watching his three children play sports.

Mary obtained her B.S. degree in Agricultural Engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 2019. She worked as an Engineering Technician until she joined MBS Land Surveys in 2020 as a party chief performing boundary and topographic surveys, specializing in 3D scans. Mary also works as a lecturer within the Bioresource and Agricultural Engineering Department at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. She spends her free time camping with her husband as they embark on a quest to visit every National Park in the U.S.

Kerry received a B.S. degree in City and Regional Planning from Cal Poly in 1996. She also received her J.D. Law Degree from Concord Law School in 2013 and passed the California State Bar in 2013. Kerry began her planning career in project administration in 1990 and has since held roles as a planner with the County of San Luis Obispo and a few cities in the central coast area. Kerry joined MBS Land Surveys in 2022 as a Principal Planner with a primary focus on processing various applications through several jurisdictions; making recommendations on legal lot status; and, reviewing and interpreting new case law, legislation, rules and regulations for conformity with new or existing projects.

Richard began his surveying career in 1984 as a Party Chief in the central coast area. He has extensive experience in boundary, topographic and construction surveys. He has been with MBS Land Surveys since 2008 serving as Party Chief for the construction division.

Dan has been involved with construction industry for over 30 years, beginning as a grade checker in 1979. In 1993, he began his career in surveying working for small survey firms in San Luis Obispo County. He has been with MBS Land Surveys since 2012, working on boundary, topographic and construction surveys.

Judi Ottonello joined the MBS team as Controller in 2023. She came to MBS Land Surveys with over 40 years of experience in business and accounting management primarily in land development and construction. Judi lived in Sonoma County where she majored in Accounting and Business Administration while working full-time and raising her children. Following a brief period in Florida, she returned to California in 2018 when her first grandchild was born. Judi spends her free time with her family and friends, gardening, cooking and attending local events listening to live music.

Hannah obtained a B.S. degree in Environmental Policy, Analysis & Planning from UC Davis in 2018. She worked briefly as an environmental planner in Sacramento before relocating back to her hometown of San Luis Obispo & joined MBS Land Surveys in 2021. Her primary responsibilities include proposal development, client coordination, and project administration. She spends her free time surfing, trail running, and practicing yoga.
